Finishing Touches that Made a Difference

In an earlier update I shared about visiting an orphanage and helping supply water, groceries and some school supplies. At that time, they had also shared about other areas of need. Recently God enabled me, with your help, to return to the orphanage and team up with those staying there to work on some projects.

The orphanage had an unfinished building–no windows, no frames, no finishes, and definitely no proper toilets. Our mission was to give that structure a makeover by installing windows, frames, cleaning up the surrounding landscape and painting the exterior. To do so was of extreme necessity as the rains were coming and the Ministry of Health had given warnings to make sure these things were completed.

While working on the projects I enjoyed the opportunity of teaching the orphans how to install window frames as well as teach a boy how to paint when he showed a keen interest. The project transformed the gray building into a functional space with six new windows.

The orphans and staff are now enjoying a safer, more comfortable environment. It was an inspiring experience seeing how simple improvements can uplift the children’s lives.

Proverbs 19:17 says, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and he will reward them for what they have done.” And in Matthew 25:35-36, Jesus says, “For I was hungry and you gave me food I was thirsty and you gave me drink I was a stranger and you welcomed me... Truly I say to you as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers you did it to me.”
